The WAN 300m makes more sense when you know, in the back of your brain, that while you chose the dressy option, the same company makes a tougher and more aggressive 500m model like 2009's WAJ series. I am quite sure that the new WAK is a serious diver, what with its 500m water resistance and SMP-like HeV manual release at 10 o'clock on the case side, but the "last gen" 300m and 500m Aquaracers complimented each other nicely. Those used to the prior generation models should preferably "try before they buy" as the new Aquaracers are more a re-think than development on the existing collection.

The store was on the floor floor of a pal’s apartment complex, who often managed gatherings for France's elite and males with their fashion-curious mistresses.

Her business grew during the First World War, because of her view that ladies should not forget about fashion during the tough years of manufacturing plant work and supporting members of the military at war. She was adamant that ladies should carry themselves well and look good for their husbands. Her designs, inspired by menswear, started owning the customer's market and soon, her designs were known around England. It was also of these successful years that she launched her famous "Number 5" perfume.

Coco continued to expand her couture empire throughout the 1930s by adding more descriptive dresses and suits to her existing clothing line. She started adding rhinestones and gems to her dresses, providing them with a more womanly feel compared to her sexy suits from the 1920s. She formally retired when the beginning of the second World War was announced to the world. Coco continued to earn revenue from her scents and accessories.

During the 1940s, Coco decided to launch her own brand of smells, which created legal troubles with her perfume partner from the 1930s, Wertheimer. He felt infringed and wound up paying her to stop designing scents. She agreed.

Post-War Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld
Although Chanel retired during the Second World War, she had a desire to continue working as many competitors started making a statement on the French fashion market. She started doing more designing in jewelry, purses and smells. She continued to work until her death in 1971 at the age of 87. Her Chanel brand was continued by Jacque, Wertheimer's son. He hired Karl Lagerfeld with hopes of bringing the brand to a new level. At the time, Lagerfeld was earning a living for Chloe.

Lagerfeld quickly took over the House of Chanel and in 1983 he became the principle designer of the couture brand. He was primarily responsible for opening an additional 40 Chanel designer stores around the world. Despite the expansion, Lagerfeld was determined to keep the brand classic and high quality.

The model of Chanel continues to grow in the 21st century by launching a unisex line in the year 2000. The house continues to develop smells and has become known for its black leather purses, well-stitched suits and the personality of Karl Lagerfeld.

Burberry went from an impartial company

The fashion brand Burberry is known for its iconic trench coat, squared pattern and natural color selection. Taken from The british isles, the fashion goliath has extended its manufacturing in the evening trench coat and now offers a large bunch of smells and products, such as jewelry, shoes and belts.

While the famous trench coat that many associate with the Burberry brand was made by Burberry's original found Thomas Burberry, the iconic pattern that will define the Burberry look came much later.

The Inception of Burberry
Thomas Burberry is the original founder of Burberry. He started the famous brand in 1856 after completing years as a draper's newbie. He started Burberry by opening a store in Hampshire, The united kingdom, that focused primarily on outerwear.

Although a success, Thomas changed the way he created the outerwear jackets in 1880 by introducing gabardine to the clothing, which is a water-resistant and breathable fabric.

August worked well for their first Christmas buying

The Jewellery Show London, which launched this week at Somerset House, has been declared "an outstanding success" by the event organisers i2i events group as it confirmed that 2, 000 top visitors attended and an freakish number of exhibitors have re-applied for space for 2013.

Exposure Director, Julie Driscoll, said that: "I have had fantastic feedback from a number of our jewellery designers and brands who have been very impressed by the calibre of buyers attending the first Jewellery Show London. Everyone said on what great the Show looked and that it was the perfect environment to attract serious retail jewellers who are looking for new, innovative and unique jewellery collections to hold their businesses as dynamic and successful as they are. inch

She confirmed that many exhibitors had already re-applied to take space in 2013 as had companies that were on the waiting list for the launch show.

There was strong support for the timing of the Jewellery Show London with retailers confirming that August worked well for their first Christmas buying.

Buyers attending the Show included many of the Britian's leading independent retail jewellers. such as Green and Benz and Trend, members from the key industry buying groups, the company of Master Jewellers and the Houlden Group, the key multiples such as Mappin and Webb, Goldsmiths and Beaverbrooks as well as buyers from top department store groups such as Harrods, Fenwicks, and John Lewis amongst a great many others.

As well as seeing 90 companies who have been displaying at Somerset House, visitors to the Show attended packed sessions at the full workshop programme that saw top industry speakers including Annoushka Ducas, founder of Links of London, Fei Liu, founder of Fei Liu Fine Jewellery, Eily Ong, Head of Investment from the World Gold Local authority or council and Chip Moore, Head of Item Research at RBS Global Banking Markets.

This glory also saw Dubai's Cambiaso

In this year of the Diamond Jubilee, Cartier sponsored the prestigious high-goal Queen's Cup. Some of the biggest names in the sport of polo were doing his thing yesterday on the Queen's Ground at Guards Polo Club, Windsor Great Park in a bid to win the Cartier Queen's Cup 2012.

One of the most prestigious and renowned events of the British sporting appointments it was viewed by HM The Queen, HRH King Philip, Arnaud Michael. Bamberger, Executive Chairman Cartier Ltd and Francois Le Troquer, Managing Director Cartier Ltd alongside a strong crowd of polo aficionados. It featured a fantastic tournament for the Queen's Cup between Team Dubai and Team Ayala; Dubai defeated Ayala in one of the nearest finals in the 52-year history of this great highgoal polo contest with the final score of 12-11.

This is the 5th time that Albwardy's Dubai team has won this cup. This glory also saw Dubai's Cambiaso, considered by many to be the best player in the world, win his 8th Queen's Cup winners' prize and grow named 'Most Valuable Player'. It was Ayala's Gonzalito Pieres though who received the 'Cartier Best Playing Pony Award' for Centimetre.

The opportunity to be a part of the Queen's Cup cements Cartier's commitment to the sport itself. After 27 years' support of International Day at the Club, Cartier announced last year that it was transferring its sponsorship to this earlier, high-goal fixture in August to support a more tournament-based event. With 16 teams entering this most prestigious of tourneys, including five of the greatest exponents of the sport in the world, all expectations were maxed. Although Cartier has sponsored the Queen's Cup before, as a one-off in 2006, this event is the firstly a new sponsorship agreement and we are very proud to be a part of this internationally respected contest.

To mirror the impressive talent on the field, Cartier met with guests from the industrys of literature, stage, screen, sport and society into the Cartier fencing, treating them to a gorgeous reception, serving Cartier sparkling wine and a lunch created by Mosimann's.

Cartier Multiple Time Zone watch

Technology has made the telling of time, in all its various aspects and guises, so mundane that wrist watches today only have to be as well made as a can of pepsi. This is really a gloomy thought because time remains the most powerful luxury of all and it deserves a better class of instruments than mass- produced throw away ornament.

Our instrument of the moment, the Calibre de Cartier Multiple Time Zone watch, sometimes referred to by its movement reference number, 9909 MC, is certainly in a class by itself. We first saw this watch as a prototype at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2011 where it was one among a cavalcade of wonders from Cartier's manufacture at La-Chaux-de-Fonds. It seems innocent enough as it is, being a simple multi-time zone watch but its appearance alone gave us temporarily stop. There is much more here than meets a person's eye.

First of all, while the watch does indeed display time in two different specific zones at once, it is a very special side-effect. To your knowledge, this is the only watch to provide an indication of that time period difference between the two indicated time specific zones and time in specific zones with sunshine savings. Confused? We were too but we know a cool watch when we see one!

Granted it is a fantastic sum of money

I was sure there needs to be more to the story and was determined to find out for myself and so when one of the team members from the Piaget boutique in London's exclusive Harrods Department Store contacted me via LinkedIn, I knew this became my chance. With my curiosity piqued I quickly arranged for my trusty sidekick and shooter – Adam Priscak – and I to visit the boutique at Knightsbridge and invest some time talking through some highlights of the current collection with Piaget's Steven Wu and Romain Giovannetti.

A quick side note for those who may not have had the chance to visit one of London's most iconic shopping precincts before; Harrods is richness amplified. If you're from London like me then you sometimes take it for granted, but the department store slap hammer in the middle of prime real estate Knightsbridge is a luxury destination in its right. If you're ever in the location it is a must visit.

The Piaget boutique occupies the space between De Drinks and Chopard, by the entrance to the 'Room of Wonders'. As soon as we step inside we are met with by the impeccably dressed Steven who shows us to your seats. Steven moved to Piaget from Breitling at DM London less than a year ago, and I was very impressed with both his familiarity with watches (not just Piaget) and also his demeanor. It's very easy to get embroiled in buzz-word mumbo large when speaking to sales guys which represents a brand, so speaking to a 'regular' person was a welcome change.

As i mentioned previously, Piaget has never also been known for much more than the Altiplano and some other high jewellery lines but that may be all about to change.

For a brand synonymous with slim watches, it's no surprise to learn that this is the thinnest automatic flying carousel tourbillon movement created by any brand to date. Still, that doesn't make the achievement of this relatively impossible task any less impressive.

In the weed the watch is extremely eye catching with a deep set switch allowing the tourbillon mounted to the end of the minute hand to switch around the switch freely. The hours are indicated by a smaller arrow on the middle raised compact disk. The piece reminded me of the Cartier Astrotourbillon (Cartier is also a Richemont owned brand), but the Piaget trumps it in terms of movement depth and the fact that it is an automatic! Housed in 18k white gold, it is a limited production (but not a restricted edition) piece selling at an eye-watering £230, 000!!

Granted it is a fantastic sum of money to pay and whether it will hold anything close to that value is your guess. That being said I think it's probably fair to say that the piece will continue to be classified as an 'Important' watch – for the foreseeable future at least – due to the fact that it is currently the world's thinnest automatic tourbillon but does that mean that it will ticket well amongst collectors? Well, that's for the auction results from Christies and Antiquorum to decide when a piece is traded in one day. Until then my own conclusion is that we am glad to finally see a high side-effect piece from the brand that may actually awaken some new interest in it.

Another piece that caught my eye was the Emperador Coussin, this time in rose gold with a very nicely displayed silent celestial body phase side-effect.

I'm a sucker for appearance, so a massive uneven lunar display aperture is right up my alley! I have a thing for this type of bluey dull switch and cushion formed rose gold case, probably in no small part due to its similarity to the iconic Genta designed Patek Philippe Nautilus. That's not a bad thing in my eyes, and it could well be a good ongoing line for Piaget should the new Emperador Tourbillon meet its accounts receivable once it's formally available later this year. The style is good for formal or even business casual wear, and I can picture it now at the cuff end of a Madison Unique suit.

To begin with the RM engineers needed

Picture this; it's a inviting Sunday afternoon and you are suiting up with your friends to play a friendly but intense game of Polo, otherwise known as the adventure of Kings. There's just one problem, you will need a way to keep an eye on the time whilst at the same time still letting those around you know that you could purchase and sell them at the drop of a hat. Enter the RM053, possibly one of the most unrealistic and yet surprisingly most legible pieces to be released by perennial favorite Richard Mille.

Making The Unrealistic Practical (Sort of)
Of course the RM053 was not created just so you could continue to overtly display your wealth even when participating in the more rigorous activities of life – although with a price tag of US$580, 000 that is kind of hard to avoid – but instead to meet up with another Richard Mille essential. That is, that the watch appear on the arm of its ambassador when he or she was undertaking the game that had made him or her famous in the first place (think Rafael Nadal, and more recently Yohan Blake). In this case that arm sits to renowned Argentinean polo player Pablo MacDonough, who signed with the brand back in 2011.

As you can imagine a Polo field can be quite a dangerous place for the sapphire very of a watch face, with golf balls and mallets flying in all directions. Jaeger-LeCoultre came up with a nifty little way to overcome this problem by creating the Reverso collection, simply allowing the individual to reverse the switch so your sapphire very was protected. Ever the visionary however Richard Mille has chosen a fully different and rather more extreme solution to this age old conundrum.

It's All In the event
The result is a rather futuristic looking case, which to be honest is more metal than anything else. Well, ultra-light titanium to be precise, which has then been treated with a super hard titanium carbide coating to make it extra strong. Thinly veiled sarcasm aside though, the movement of this unique piece actually are quite complex.

To begin with the RM engineers needed to ensure that the hand twisted tourbillon movement could withstand the bangs from the inevitable impacts of a spirited game of Polo – not to mention those from MacDonough's own teammates who presumably can't resist the urge to give him a friendly tap on the arm every now and then with their mallets just to see if his watch will be as strong as he claims. The case itself plays a large part in this obviously however to increase structural hardness the movement also boasts a special skeletonized baseplate and links made of grade 5 titanium held together with spline screws and made so closely together they almost act as one.

On the face of the watch, if you can call it that, two small knobs have been set at 30 degrees towards the bottom of the case. The one on the most appropriate one indicates the hour and minute whilst the one on the left keeps track of the seconds via a 60-second tourbillon. That's right, a tourbillon. Were you really expecting any less from the master himself? As a final touch the sapphire deposits have been recessed into the switch cutouts, thus protecting them completely from any stray golf balls or mallets, whilst still enabling full visibility of that time period signals.

Ironically enough, whilst this may very well be one of the smallest time displays you'll come across on a Richard Mille timepiece, thanks to its relative simplicity, it's also likely to end up one of the most legible.

On Aug. 20, Vacheron Constantin announced the opening of its latest exclusive boutique in the Palazzo Hotel, Resort & Casino in Nevada. This marks the brand’s second US boutique after the opening in New york city in Sept. 2011.

Piaget joined with polo player Nacho Figueras and polo enthusiasts, Joe and Diana DiMenna, to host the first annual Piaget Hamptons Cup, an exposure match reaping benefits for the Robin the boy wonder Hood Foundation.

Held at Equuleus Polo Club in Watermill, New york, the match featured three teams—Credit Suisse, Equuleus and Beverly Inclines Beauty. Players included Kris Kampsen, Nic Roldan, Magoo Laprida, Matias Magrini and Pelon Escapite.

The 9-chukker round robin the boy wonder ended in a three-way tie.
